State of Horror: Illinois Audio Book Edition with DJ Tyrer

State of Horrr: Illinois audio book feature author DJ Tyrer

AUDIO BOOK: State of Horror: Illinois
RELEASE: February 2015
STORY: “Vishnu Springs”

Charon Coin Press: What do you think about your story being translated into an audio format?
DJ Tyrer: I’m absolutely thrilled! I think it’s important to make fiction available in as many formats as possible so that everyone can access it, whatever their personal circumstances and preferences. It’s also great to see Charon Coin Press has such confidence in the series.
CCP: What aspect of your story do you feel is enhanced by being heard as opposed to read?
DJT: Vishnu Springs is told in the first person and contains plenty of conversation, so (hopefully) it is a perfect fit for being heard, as if you are being regaled by the teller.
CCP: What books have most influenced your life?
DJT: Writers such as JRR Tolkien and Jenny Nimmo inspired a lot of my early writing and remain an influence on my work. The works of the Bronte sisters are probably my greatest and longest running obsession. HP Lovecraft got me interested in horror and led me to writers such as Clark Ashton Smith, Robert E. Howard and Arthur Machen, as well as Robert W. Chambers, whose collection, The King In Yellow, has probably had the single biggest influence on my writing.
CCP: Do you have a favorite monster/horror character?
DJT: Without a doubt it would have to be the King in Yellow. If ever I mysteriously vanish, you can bet its spirited me away to Carcosa!
CCP:  What do you see as the perfect setting for listening to State of Horror: Illinois?
DJT: A spooky corner of Illinois, surely? A little place called Vishnu Springs would probably be just right…
