State of Horror: Louisiana Volume I available March 17th, 2015

Charon Coin Press is excited to announce the newest upcoming release in the State of Horror anthology—State of Horror: Louisiana Volume I.  State of Horror: Louisiana was a previously released book in the State of Horror series under Rymfire, however when editor of State of Horror, Jerry Benns, opened submissions to revamp the book, the stories submitted captured the imagination and essence of Louisiana, which is the inspiration for the series. How do you select just four stories (which was the available number of slots available with the previous released stories), to make thirteen from a solid submission base? Simple—offer two volumes of State of Horror: Louisiana. The original State of Horror: Louisiana had eight stories.  Those stories are back and updated and scattered between the two volumes.  Each volume now contains 13 scary stories set all around Louisiana. Also each volume features the wonderful cover art of Natasha Alterici.  Alterici’s covers really capture the essence of State of Horror: Louisiana.

Each of the stories in the Louisiana volumes captures the feel and taste of Louisiana.  Some of the stories are set in the capital of Baton Rouge, while others explore out in the wilds of the bayous.  The stories focus on small towns, and others take to the street of the Big Easy. Creole and Cajun as well as southern dishes are served up in horrifying fashion in both volumes of State of Horror: Louisiana.  Each story does an incredible job of featuring the uniqueness that is Louisiana.  We here at Charon Coin Press hold Louisiana near and dear to our hearts and are just thrilled to offer these great stories from such talented writers—both new authors and veterans.  A glance at the Table of Contents for State of Horror: Louisiana Volume I will show some very talented authors who are now a part of the State of Horror collection.

The State of Horror anthologies have a wide appeal to lovers of horror everywhere. Whether the appeal are monsters like zombies, vampires, witches, aliens, swamp creatures, and voodoo priestesses among others, or the scary psycho human kind of monsters, there are thrills and chills to be found in the pages of State of Horror, and especially in the newest edition—State of Horror: Louisiana Volume I. The stories in Louisiana are set in different time periods as well as contemporary settings.  An eclectic group of memorable characters lurks within the pages.

“The State of Horror series heads down the mighty Mississippi to the river delta on its tour of the United States with the first of two stops in the Bayou State—Louisiana. Come with us as we explore tales of vengeance rooted deep within the past delivered up on the living of the present. There have always been shady political characters, but what happens when political aspirations and voter expectations do not meet? What evil hides within the horrors of Mother Nature’s fiercest storms? What is the recipe to heal a broken heart? From deep in the bayous to the streets of New Orleans, Louisiana delivers up the horrors in this stop along the tour…”
