Charon Coin Press has joined up with independent bookstore Books Galore in Festus, Missouri to hold a Canned Food Drive event benefiting Ozark Food Pantry.
The Canned Food Drive has begun.
Books Galore, located at 411 W Main Street in Festus, is set up as a collection center for the canned and boxed food donations to benefit Ozark Food Pantry also located in Festus, Missouri and serving Southern Jefferson County. In addition to helping out a wonderful cause, with every five cans donated, your name is entered into a chance to win exciting prizes.
The raffle includes several prizes donated by Books Galore, KJFF AM 1400, author Steve Bradshaw, and Charon Coin Press. Winners will have the opportunity to take home the grand prize Reader’s Basket valued at over $100. This amazing prize contains novels from State of Horror authors Tim Baker, T. Fox Dunham, Armand Rosamilia, Julianne Snow, and three anthologies (Southern Haunts 1 & 2 and Fading Hope) featuring many of the State of Horror authors as well a copy of both State of Horror New Jersey and State of Horror: Illinois. This basket also included is a warm throw blanket, chocolates, assorted teas, bookends and popcorn for your reading pleasure. A second basket contains all three books in The Bell Trilology (Bluff City Butcher, The Skies Roared, and Blood Lines) by thriller author Steve Bradshaw. Finally, KJFF AM 1400 and Books Galore will donate other selections of books to be included in the drawing.
The collection will continue until Saturday November 29th. On the 29th State of Horror editor Jerry Benns and author Margaret (Margie) Colton will be on hand to meet people and sign copies of State of Horror: New Jersey and State of Horror: Illinois from 11 am to 1 pm. The drawing for the raffle will be immediately after the book signing at 1pm, and the winners need not be present to win.
Ozark Food Pantry does a great job of servicing those in need in the Jefferson County areas of Festus, Herculaneum, Crystal City, Horine, Hematite, and Pevely and they could really use the support at this time to continue their work through the upcoming holiday season. The organization’s website conveys this as their mission, “to supplement basic food needs to all families in the Festus, Herculaneum, Pevely, Crystal City, Horine, and Hematite area regardless of gender, race or religious affiliation.” Food is provided to these families on a bi-weekly basis. Ozark Food Pantry is staffed and operated entirely by area volunteers. Show your support and help families in need in the upcoming holiday season.
“The goals of the canned food drive is to not only fill Books Galore with donated non-perishable foods and toiletries, butalso to bring awareness to this generous organization. After visiting Ozark Food Pantry on a distribution day recently, and speaking with the organizers, the choice was simple,” states Charon Coin Press’ founder, Jerry Benns.
Charon Coin Press believes strongly in helping out others and is thrilled to be able to collaborate with Books Galore to turn a book signing into an event to help in the community. We would like to thank those who are helping out and encourage everyone to come see us on November 29th at Books Galore for the State of Horror book signing event and bring some cans.
